Thriving Splendor

陳麗桉 | 五旬節林漢光中學

The assembly of traditional clothes into non-traditional styles is my interpretation of “Modern China-Chic”. The black fragrant gauze gown acts as a favourable background in the work, so that the Miao silver chest is like starlight, dotted on the skirt with the unique charm of the Chinese style shines brightly. Red, silver, black is the main tone in this chapter. The red-black mixing stacked bell-bottoms are flowers in the red dust; Silver brocaded brocade cheongsam like a river water wave caress; The red-black tulle dragon on the cheongsam is an auspicious sign of the Year of the Dragon; A thin yellow gauze scarf curled around the neck, its pattern echoing the dragon pattern on the skirt; The red and silver white of the kitten heels set off each other, just like the jumping carp dancing on the toes, is the sincere blessing of China. Looking at the whole, the patchwork of the Chinese elements such as Cheongsam, the characteristics of minority nationalities, traditional myths, auspicious meanings, etc., presents an alternative patchwork, and is a rich export model of Chinese culture. This is the “Modern China-Chic” from my perspective.
